Microsound composition for Quadraphonic system:
Catharsis the Boxer Who Can't Handle Things With His Gloves
I found a miniature toilet pump and used it in the composition as my micro sound. I used that micropump on the surface of metal objects and recorded about 2 seconds. Every sound in the composition is based on first recording of the pump and has been manipulated to achieve further different timbres and sound events. The composition is mixed for a quadraphonic sound system. You will receive in my portfolio the converted stereo version.
I conceived a boxer who is wearing his gloves but has been left to his own devices. This drama is more of a metaphor reflecting the isolating effect of violence. The name of the piece and its formal structure stems from the metaphoric approach.
