Description
The generative composition ‘Exile and Other Syndromes’ responds to the current indisposition of migration, mobility, placeless-ness and nomadism – these are perhaps the impulses of a contemporary condition that eventually blurs the boundaries between the local and the global, the digital and the corporeal, the private and the public, or the intimate and the dehumanizing spaces. The work intends to develop fluid sculptural form of sound intersected with sound-generated text patterns as visual correspondence. The work transmutes the contemporary city’s volatile, oppressing and tensed environments to involve the contemplation of the listener navigating the intercepting urban spaces. The work incorporates multi-channel live projection of the sound-generated texts on multiple screens as moving images installed at a venue, augmented with multi-channel sound installation for 8-channels Ambisonics (adapted) or 24-channels (original version). The work was conceived during a residency at Kunstuniversität Graz (2015 – 2016). The pilot version (24-channel sound/4-channel visuals) was premiered at Kunstuniversität Graz.
